
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress APC in Egbeda and Ona-Ara local government areas of Oyo state on Tuesday rallied support for a member of the Tinubu Support Group for Southwest Campaign Committee for 2023, Hon Ashimiu Adio as he officially declared his interest to contest for for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 elections


Speaking during the declaration, Ashimiu emphasized his long-standing loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that he has remained a committed member since 2014 without defecting to any other party.
Ashimiu who expressed his readiness to serve the people ,promised to deliver good governance if given the mandate in the 2027 elections.
He disclosed his proposed plans to install six industrial boreholes with solar lighting by June 2026.
Ashimiu also announced a ₦250 million empowerment program targeted at residents of both Egbeda and Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.

He assured his constituents that he would deliver on his promises if elected, pledging to provide effective and impactful representation.
Ashimiu affirmed his commitment to mobilizing strong electoral support for the President in the 2027 general elections.
“Our youths are talented-but where are the opportunities? Our present representative has done commendably well. We will step forward not to start afresh, but to continue the good work and that is why today, with a deep sense of responsibility and total commitment, I, Afeez Adio Ashimiu, hereby declare my intention to contest for Egbeda and Ona-Ara Federal House of Representatives under our great party, APC.

“The journey is not about power but about service, If given your mandate, I willl stand as your strong voice in Abuja. Fight for opportunities for our youths, support our women and small businesses
push for better roads, electricity, and water, and we are doing Six (6) borehole drlings in both Egbeda and Ona-Ara federal constituency, and N250M empowerment across the 22 wards and with cash for market women, artisans, and farmers.”

He pointed out that while some politicians had moved to other parties, he remained steadfast, describing himself as a consistent and loyal party member.
According to him, this consistency positions him as a credible candidate for the constituency.
He emphasized the importance of party supremacy , faithfulness and loyalty, stating that the principles guide members and lead to success within the party structure.

Addressing questions from newsmen on the level of support within the party, Adio reiterated his belief in party’s supremacy and leadership guidance.
He maintained that the APC leadership understands its structure , while expressing confidence that party leaders are prepared to support his ambition

In his remarks, the pioneer chairman of the South West Development Commission,and also Chairman, Yoruba Patriots Movement, Barrister Oladosu Oladipo, Chairmen described Hon Adio as a dependable, tested and trusted individual who has the capacity to bring the desired change in the lives of the people of his constituency.
In the same vein, the APC Chairmen of Egbeda and OnaAra local governments, Hon Olawale Olaleye and Hon. Prince Abdul-Wasiu Ogundipe respectively, commended Hon Adio’s steadfastness and support for the party despite being denied the ticket twice assuring him of their support to realise his ambition.

The event witnessed the attendance of several political leaders and other stakeholders from Egbeda and Ona Ara local governments including Hon Tayo Ogunsola , Hon Shina Lawal, Hon (Mrs) Funmilayo Omorilewa, Hon Ojasope Folasade and Hon Hon( Mrs) Aderonke Adedeji
Also in attendance are; Hon Kareem Jenrade , Hon Gbenga Fawole, Hon Adewale Lamide Hon Muyiwa Adewusi, and Hon Olayiwola Rufai among others.
