Today, I am reminded that not every battle is visible.

Behind some smiles are silent worries. Behind some silence are deep struggles. And behind the anger, frustration and seeming hopelessness of many of our young people is a desperate cry for opportunity, understanding and support.

Across Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa and Kajola, many families are grappling with economic hardship, unemployment, educational challenges and the daily pressures of survival. We must look beyond people’s circumstances and recognise their humanity.

Mental health challenge is not a sign of weakness. Seeking help is not a thing of shame. No one should suffer in silence because society refuses to understand.

As a candidate for the House of Representatives, I believe true development must care for the mind as much as it cares for roads and buildings. We must expand access to healthcare, promote mental health awareness, support young people battling addiction and emotional distress, encourage early intervention, and build communities where seeking help is met with compassion, not condemnation.

Our young people need more than criticism. They need opportunities, mentorship, practical skills, productive engagement and hope for the future. Our families need support. Our communities need enlightenment. And our healthcare system must treat mental well-being as a critical component of human development.

My vision is a constituency where no one is ashamed to ask for help, where the vulnerable are treated with dignity, and where every young person can believe that their tomorrow is still worth fighting for.

Let us build a society that does not only tell people to be strong, but also gives them the support they need to stay strong.

Because leadership is not just about creating opportunities for people to succeed; it is also about building a society that cares when they struggle.

A healthy mind. A hopeful people. A better constituency.
