
The management of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board has commenced sensitization training programme for prospective retirees of public primary schools and Local Governments.
While delivering his keynote address at the programme held at Oke Ogun zones 1& 2, the Chairman of the Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige, said the programme will be held across all the geo-political zones Ibadan City, Ibadan Less City, Oyo, Ogbomoso and Ibarapa zones at designated centres with the aim of preparing primary school teachers and local government staff who will retire between 1st October, 2026– 30th June, 2027 on the procedure for processing retirement benefits, transitioning from active service to retirement life, living a healthy lifestyle, agribusiness and entrepreneurship skills.
At the programme combined with payment of gratuity to another batch of retirees, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige commended the Executive Governor of State, His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for being consistent in putting smiles on the faces of senior citizens and workers since assumption of office most especially in terms of regular payment of monthly pension and gratuity, payment of forty two billion (#42B) out of the inherited backlog of gratuity and accrued under the present administration, payment of #50,000 Christmas bonus, #10,000 as transport support fund, #15,000 wage award, upward review of monthly pension in which least paid pensioners now collect #25,000, decentralization of payment of gratuity and sensitization training programme among others.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Chairman, House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon Femi Julius, Former Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, who is also the APM candidate Saki West/ Saki East/ Atisbo Federal constituency, Hon Niyi Adebisi, APM candidate Iseyin/Itesiwaju State Constituency, Surveyor Adefabi Dasola Fadiran , Executive Chairman, Iseyin Local Government, Hon Rasaq Fadiran, Hon Salaudeen Kabir Adebayo APM candidate for Saki West State Constituency, State NUP Chairmen, retired Primary School Teachers and Local Government Staff wings, Com Dosu Akinpelu and Alhaji Muniru Adesope respectively gave kudos to Governor Seyi Makinde led administration for being outstanding in terms of workers and pensioners welfare .
They all solicited for continued support and cooperation to Governor Seyi Makinde led government in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Acting Head of Local Government Administration of the Board, Alhaji Musibau Ladele said primary school teachers and local government staff who are due to retiree between 1st October 2026– 30th June 2027 will be equipped with vital tips and skills that will make life after retirement enjoyable and processing of retirement benefits seamless.
The Board gathered an array of experts and professionals in various fields which included Former Commissioner, now the Special Adviser to the Governor on Establishment and Training, Alhaji Siju Lawal, Former Secretary, LGSPB and retired Head of Local Government Administration, Dr (Mrs) Ayodele Busari, Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Sola Akande, Auditor General for LG represented by Mr Salaudeen, Director of Personnel, State Universal Basic Education Board( SUBEB) , Mrs Omolara Adegbenjo among others .
The highlight of the two -in -one progranme include symbolic presentation of gratuity cheques to beneficiaries and certificate of participation to prospective retirees.
Dignitaries present at the occasion include top government officials, Heads of Local Government Administration from various LGs, Director of Finance and Supplies Mrs Temitayo Adeyemo, Director of Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr Oluwole Kehinde, Internal Auditor Alhaji Raifu Najimdeen, Director of Education and Social Services,, Mrs Olabanke Adeyemo , Deputy Director of Administration and General Services, Mr Abiodun Murainaa and a host of others.
