Operational Tour: GOC 2 Division Visits Troop Locations, Calls for Vigilance

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has visited troop locations around the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State. The visit is part of the GOC’s broader framework of visiting formations and units to have an on the spot assessment of troop deployments in the general area.

The GOC visited the Igbeti–Igboho–Sepetari Road in Olorunsogo Local Government Area (LGA), where he was received and briefed on the security situation in the area by the Commanding Officer (CO), 81 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Chiemezie Innocent Asogwa. While at 169 Motorcycle Battalion Headquarters, Ikoyi-Ile, and Abaja Response Area, both in Oriire LGA, he was received by the CO, Lieutenant Colonel Waziri Gadzama Ayuba, who conducted him around the deployment areas and briefed him on the operational disposition of the battalion.

Addressing the troops, the GOC charged them to be very alert, committed and vigilant in their respective Areas of Responsibility (AOR). He commended them for their efforts in defending their AOR effectively.

Major General Mahmuda called on the troops to remain disciplined and committed and maintain an aggressive posture. He also charged them to adhere to the core values of the NA, adding that this is essential to maintaining professionalism in the military. “You must work as a team and defend your locality,” he said.
