The Oyo State Government has urged indigenous students in the state to look beyond their current circumstances and take full advantage of educational and digital opportunities to secure their future.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaja Wasilat Adegoke, gave the charge on Wednesday during the inauguration of the new leadership of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union, FOSSU, at the University of Ibadan.
Addressing the student leaders, Alhaja Adegoke said being a student should not be seen as a barrier to greatness.
“Being a student does not restrict future potential. There are no limitations to success for those willing to seize opportunities,” she stated.
Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Student Affairs,Victor Olojede, urged student leaders to prioritize collective interest over personal gain.
Olojede, who publicly apologized to anyone he may have offended while working with the governor, charged students to put the nation’s future ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also gave a major assurance on welfare: “The 2026 bursary will soon be disbursed, with an increase in amount and an extension to college students.”
In his inaugural speech, newly inaugurated FOSSU National President, Aare Ahmed Mufutau, pledged to engage government, relevant authorities, and stakeholders constructively to advance the interests of Oyo State students, especially amid current economic challenges.
Immediate past FOSSU President, Ibrahim Alarape, and guest lecturer, Aare Kayode Ajani, charged the new executives to embrace inclusive leadership to achieve unity, progress, and set clear goals for students and the nation.
The inauguration drew students from tertiary institutions across the state.
