


The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to coordinate activities for its forthcoming 60th anniversary celebration, with former council chairman , Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre named as Chairman.
The announcement was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Wednesday and jointly signed by the council Chairman, Comrade Akeem Abas, and Secretary, Temidayo Adu.
According to the statement, Amb. Ojo-Lanre, a respected media administrator and diplomat, will oversee all activities connected with the diamond jubilee celebration of the union in Oyo State.
The council expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver a successful anniversary, noting that his appointment “marked the beginning of preparations” for the milestone celebration.
Other members of the Central Planning Committee include seasoned journalists and media professionals: Mr. Sola Oladapo, Mr. Kemi Olaitan, Mr. Semiu Azeez, Mrs. Bukola Owolabi, Mrs. Olubunmi Olalere, and Mrs. Phebean Ojo.
The council said the team was selected based on proven capacity and commitment to the growth of the union and journalism practice in the state.
The committee is expected to unveil programmes designed to celebrate the achievements of the NUJ in Oyo State and honour individuals who have contributed significantly to the media profession over the past six decades.
It will also liaise with the State Working Committee to ensure a hitch-free diamond jubilee celebration.
