Oyo CPN, SOS Children’s Villages Highlight Key Achievements in 2025 Child Protection Project

The Child Protection Network (CPN), Oyo State Chapter, under the coordination of Dr. Rosemary Odigbo, and  in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, has released highlights of its 2025 child protection project.

The efforts of the Project Implementation Committee led by Monica Adogbeji, and all Child Protection Network Oyo State executives and members is highly recognized in showcasing major milestones in safeguarding vulnerable children across Oyo State.

The project strengthened child protection systems through school-based activities, community engagement, mental health support, and case management services.

Major Achievements included 22 School-Based Child Protection Clubs established across five (5) Local Government Areas  (LGA’s) (target was 20), reaching over 42,292 students and pupils with child-led protection skills.

Awareness campaigns reached thousands, addressing child marriage, FGM, violence against children, and the importance of safe school environments.

Capacity building for educators, lay counsellors, and community actors on case management, child participation, and psychosocial support.

Formation and strengthening of Community Child Protection Committees (CCPCs) in selected LGAs, ensuring community-level reporting, vigilance, and referral support.

156 vulnerable children supported with essential learning materials to return to school.

Life-saving interventions, including the rescue of young girls living with guardians and parents, who sexually abuses them and a trafficking survivor, and strengthened referral pathways for at-risk children. Over 43,000 students, school personnel, and stakeholders sensitized on child protection issues.

CPN Oyo State expresses deep appreciation to SOS Children’s Villages for its support and sponsorship, which made these achievements possible. Their partnership continues to strengthen child protection structures and amplify the voices of young people across the state.
