


The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) has presented lifetime achievement award to the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige.
While presenting the award during the SBN South West Broadcast Summit 2026 and induction of new members held at the Local Government Staff Training School Secretariat , Ibadan, the former Nigerian Ambassador to Philippines, Ambassador (Dr ) Yemi Farounbi said ” this lifetime award is presented to Hon Akeem Ademola Ige in recognition of his outstanding public service , exemplary leadership and enduring commitment to the progress of the Nigerian society”.
Speaking further, Ambassador ( Dr) Yemi Farounbi lauded Hon Akeem Ademola Ige for being a grassroot politician who has impacted many lives positively. ” Ige is so committed to the growth of the society, to the growth of his community and Oyo State and I can confirm his love for broadcasting” he said.
In his response, Hon Ige appreciated the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters ( SBN) for considering him for the award and dedicated the award to the pensioners friendly Governor, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for giving him the opportunity to serve in this political dispensation to contribute his quota to the development of the state.
” It gladdens my heart to be one of the awardees and I congratulate Society of Nigerian Broadcasters for the successful hosting of this programme in Oyo state. I express my gratitude to my boss, my leader His Excellency, most pensioners friendly Governor, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for giving me the platform and I therefore dedicate this award to him” Ige said.
He then commended Comrade Seun Awodele led SBN chapter of Oyo State for promoting professionalism and ethical standards.
While delivering the paper titled ” Public Policy Mass Media and Conflict -Sensitive Broadcasting Strengthening Media– Government Synergy for National Security, the guest lecturer Chief Bisi Adesola former Secretary to the State Government/ Oyo State Head of Service described broadcasters as educators , mediators and watchdogs. Noting that they must promote professional standards and report responsibly. Also, that broadcasters should build a culture of communication that strengthens peace and democratic resilience.
The programme also witnessed the induction of new members from across the South West states .
Among dignitaries that graced the occasion include the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr Sulaiman Olanrewaju, Director General, National Broadcasting Commission, Charles Ebuebe represented by Dr Susan Obi, Heads of various broadcast stations, media personalities, management of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board and a host of others.
