The Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, (Grand Council of Yoruba Youths), has condemned the killing of a teacher and the abduction of school pupils and other teachers at Esinele in Orire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso by suspected kidnappers, calling it “baric and an assault on the future of Yorubaland.”

Report indicated that another teacher, Mr Michael Oyedokun was beheaded while in captivity

In a statement signed by the group’s President-General, Comrade Awa Bamiji, the council said the incident has heightened fear among parents and students and demanded immediate action from the Oyo State Government and security agencies.

“We strongly condemn this senseless and barbaric act,” the statement read. “The killing of a teacher and the abduction of innocent pupils and their colleagues is an attack on education and on the future of Yoruba land. Schools must remain safe spaces.”

The group urged the government to intensify rescue operations, increase security deployment around schools and border communities, and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“The government must show that it will not allow criminals to dictate life in Oyo State. We also appeal to residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid the rescue efforts,” Bamiji said.

Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, founded in 2001, said it stands with the families of the victims and will continue to advocate for the safety of students and teachers across the Southwest.

The attack in Esinele adds to a string of abductions reported in parts of Orire LGA in recent weeks, raising fresh concerns over school security in rural communities.
