The development was disclosed by the lawmaker’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, following a joint inspection of the road by Hon. Olajide and the Chairman of OYSTROMA, Mr. Ogunlade.

According to Mustapha, the inspection was conducted to assess the current condition of the road, obtain accurate technical measurements and determine the scope of work required for its rehabilitation and comprehensive overhaul.

He said measurements were taken along the entire stretch of the road, with particular attention paid to the drainage system, culverts and other areas requiring structural intervention.

Mustapha explained that the planned intervention would go beyond routine maintenance, stressing that the objective was to undertake a comprehensive rehabilitation of the road corridor.

He disclosed that drainage and culvert works would commence in the coming days, adding that the drainage component would precede the major road rehabilitation.

According to him, the approach is designed to address the underlying water-flow and drainage challenges before the road surface is rehabilitated.

He further stated that once the necessary drainage and culvert works are completed, the tarring of the road would commence immediately.

Mustapha noted that the sequencing of the project was deliberate, as proper drainage infrastructure would help protect the newly rehabilitated road from premature deterioration and damage caused by flooding and poor water management.

The road, he said, serves as an important link between Ring Road, Adeoyo, the Adeoyo State Hospital axis and Orita Challenge, providing access to several commercial, residential, healthcare and public-service facilities within the area.

He added that the rehabilitation would significantly improve accessibility, facilitate smoother vehicular movement and reduce the hardship currently experienced by motorists and residents who use the corridor.

Mustapha said the intervention was part of Hon. Olajide’s commitment to pursuing practical solutions to infrastructure challenges affecting constituents and residents of Ibadan.

He stressed that the lawmaker had continued to engage relevant government authorities and technical agencies in seeking sustainable solutions to infrastructural challenges within the constituency.

The Special Adviser further explained that the immediate commencement of drainage and culvert works would constitute the first phase of the project, while the subsequent tarring would complete the major surface rehabilitation of the affected road corridor.

He expressed optimism that the project, when completed, would contribute significantly to improving road connectivity and enhancing the socio-economic activities of communities along the corridor.

The intervention is also expected to ease traffic-related challenges and provide safer and more convenient access to businesses, homes, healthcare facilities and other important destinations along the Ring Road–Adeoyo–Orita Challenge axis.
