The Progressive Old Students’ Association, Tede (POSAT), has announced plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Progressive Secondary Grammar School, Tede, with the launch of a ₦1.5 billion development fund to support the institution’s growth.

The golden jubilee celebration, scheduled for November 2026, will mark five decades since the school was upgraded to secondary school status on November 22, 1976, by the government of the old Oyo State.
The association, which brings together alumni of both Progressive Modern School, established in 1959, and Progressive Secondary Grammar School, said the anniversary would provide an opportunity to celebrate the institution’s contributions to education and recognize its enduring impact on generations of students.
The celebration will also feature the commemoration of the 67th anniversary of the school’s original establishment and the first-ever Global Alumni Reunion.
According to a press release issued by POSAT, a series of activities has been lined up for the milestone celebration. These include special thanksgiving services, Community Engagement Day, Homecoming and School Community Day, Global Alumni Reunion Day and the grand finale.
The grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026, and is expected to attract prominent political, business and civic leaders, alongside alumni, traditional stakeholders and members of the school community.
A major highlight will be a scholarly symposium themed, “The Future of Community-Based Public Secondary Schools in Nigeria.”
Other activities will include the unveiling of the Strategic School Development Initiative, the official launch of the ₦1.5 billion Development Fund and the presentation of Legacy Awards to pioneers who contributed to laying the foundation for the institution’s development.
The association said the celebration was designed not only to commemorate the school’s golden jubilee but also to mobilise alumni and other stakeholders towards securing a stronger future for the institution.
The press release was signed by Dr Funso Folaranmi, Interim National President, and Tajudeen Alabede, Interim National Secretary of POSAT.
