A grim development has emerged from Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State after reports that one of the teachers kidnapped during the attack on schools in Ahoro-Esinele community was allegedly beheaded while in captivity.

According to information circulating within the community on Sunday, one of the teachers taken during the coordinated school invasion was reportedly killed by the abductors, deepening fears over the fate of the remaining victims still being held.

The horrific incident was reportedly captured in the third video released by the kidnappers, further intensifying concerns among residents and families of the abducted victims.

The victims were abducted on Friday after armed men, reportedly riding motorcycles, stormed Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in a coordinated attack.

Community sources said 46 persons were kidnapped during the invasion, including seven teachers and 39 students and pupils.

Those earlier reported missing include Mrs. Alamu Folawe, Principal of Community High School; Mr. Ojo Jonathan, Vice Principal; Mr. Olatunde Zacchaeus; Mr. John Olaleye; Mr. Michael Oyedokun; Mrs. Oladeji; and Mary Akanbi of Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School.

Residents also alleged that the attackers stole four motorcycles from villagers during the operation.

The latest development comes less than 24 hours after a distress video emerged online showing one of the abducted school officials, Mrs. Alamu, appealing to the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, and well-meaning Nigerians to urgently intervene and secure the release of the victims.

The Oyo State Police Command had earlier confirmed the abduction and disclosed that tactical and intelligence teams had been deployed to rescue those in captivity and track down the perpetrators.

Residents of the affected communities have continued to call for intensified rescue efforts amid growing concerns over the safety of the remaining abducted teachers and pupils.
