Media and public affairs expert, Comrade Olawale Ogunyebi, has cautioned members of the public against spreading unverified security information capable of creating panic and unnecessary tension within communities.

Reacting to a recent false security alarm that led to the abrupt closure of schools across the Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State,Ogunyebi stressed the importance of responsible information sharing. He noted that false security alerts can undermine public confidence, distract security agencies from their core responsibilities, and create unnecessary fear among residents.

He urged citizens to verify security-related information through credible and official sources before sharing it on social media or other communication platforms.
According to him, maintaining public calm and vigilance requires a collective commitment to accuracy, responsibility, and truthfulness.
Ogunyebi particularly emphasized the need for heightened vigilance as the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State approaches.

He noted that the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) remains committed to peace, security, and the protection of lives and property across the state. He urged residents to resist every form of misinformation, disinformation, and rumor capable of causing panic or destabilizing communities.

He further called on citizens to cooperate closely with security agencies across various communities to safeguard lives and property throughout Ekiti East Local Government Area and the state at large.

The Isinbode-Ekiti-born media expert also advocated stronger collaboration between security agencies and local communities, emphasizing that effective security is best achieved through mutual trust, intelligence sharing, and active community participation.

He encouraged traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, religious organizations, and other stakeholders to work closely with security operatives by promptly reporting suspicious activities and supporting initiatives aimed at protecting lives and maintaining public safety.

According to Olawale Ogunyebi, enhanced synergy between communities and security agencies would strengthen early-warning mechanisms, improve response times, and contribute significantly to peace, safety, and stability across society.

He reaffirmed that security remains a shared responsibility and urged all citizens to support lawful efforts aimed at promoting a secure, peaceful, and conducive environment for all.
