The Katsina State Government has confirmed the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, former Army spokesperson, who died from diabetes and hypertension complications while in bandits’ captivity.
In a statement Saturday by Commissioner for Internal Security Nasir Muazu, the government said the General died a natural death arising from complications from hypertension and diabetes despite relentless and concerted efforts by the state and security agencies to secure his release.
“The Katsina State Government, with a heavy heart and deep sense of loss, wishes to inform the general public of the tragic passing of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar. It is with profound sadness that we confirm the General’s death while in bandits’ captivity,” the statement read.
The government described the incident as a tragic loss to both Katsina State and the nation.
