The Executive Chairman of Ede South Local Government, Hon. Kolawole Salami, on Monday received Dr. Mrs. Sekinat Bola Oyebamiji, wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), during the commissioning of the AMBO Light Up Osun Solar Streetlight Project at Alajue 2, Ward 5, in Ede.
Also present at the event was Princess Abimbola Adereti, wife of the APC deputy governorship candidate, who joined residents, party leaders and community stakeholders for the inauguration of the solar-powered streetlight project.
The project, executed under the AMBO Light Up Osun Initiative, is aimed at improving public lighting, enhancing security and supporting socio-economic activities within the community.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Salami commended Asiwaju Oyebamiji for extending the initiative to Alajue 2, describing the project as a practical intervention that would positively impact the lives of residents.
According to him, the installation of the solar streetlights would improve security, encourage commercial activities at night and provide a safer environment for motorists and pedestrians.
The council chairman also appreciated Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji and Princess Adereti for attending the event, noting that their presence reflected their support for community-based development initiatives.
In her remarks, Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji said the project underscored her husband’s commitment to delivering people-oriented development across Osun State. She assured residents that the solar streetlight installation was part of a broader vision to improve infrastructure and promote sustainable development in communities across the state.
She urged residents to protect the facilities and continue to support initiatives aimed at improving their communities.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by party leaders, traditional and community stakeholders, women and youth groups, as well as residents, who expressed appreciation for the project and pledged their continued support for the APC ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
