Gunmen Abduct 60- Year-Old School Headmaster in Igbojaye, Demand N30 Million Ransom

A 60-year-old Headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr. Owoade Matthew Kolawale, popularly known as “Onaiye” has been allegedly abducted by unknown gunmen

Oodua news gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday evening, July 11, 2026, between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

According to the victim’s son, Mr. Owoade Abiola, his father was returning from his farm at Budo Aare in the area, when he was seized by the attackers.

Shortly after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted the family using the victim’s mobile phone and demanded a ransom of Thirty Million Naira (₦30,000,000) for his release.

However, at about 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, a search team recovered the victim’s motorcycle abandoned in the bush.

The family, colleagues, and the entire education community in Itesiwaju LGA have expressed deep sadness over the incident. They have urgently called on the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, NSCDC, and other security agencies to intervene and ensure the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Owoade Kolawale.

An appeal has also gone out to the public for any information that may assist in his safe return.

Community members are strongly advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday saying that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the culprits and ensure safe release of the abductee
