A group, Pacesetter Peace Team (PPT) in Oyo State has urged members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to allow absolute peace and harmony reign in the party if electoral victory is to be achieved in the 2027 general election.
This call was made in a release made available to newsmen in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Dauda Kolawole after the group met with Prof. Soji Adejumo in his residence.
The statement observed that peace and harmony has eluded the party for a very long time resulting to electoral loses in 2003, 2007, 2019 and 2023.
“To record electoral victory in 2027, members of the party need to close rank and eschew politics of selfishness and bitterness.
“Our political space has for long been characterized by wrong philosophies and non-ideological process. Emphasis has always been on selfishness as against selfless service – the Key to Evolution in these Days.
“The foundation of our educational system is faulty, we operate a corrupt political system, we practice an incomplete religious system that lacks spiritual foundation leading to a failed system as evident in our society today.
“Our leaders at national and local levels lack the essential knowledge requires to provide correct leadership for the society. They failed in their responsibility of providing the young ones with adequate and correct information needed to build a better society.
The release frowned at the present system of monetizing candidate selection process where leadership position is determined by the size of pocket as against the capacity and capability of individuals.
“Our system glorifies fakes, thus allowing people with dubious character and questionable resources to hijack the political processes leading to the mental rut in our society.”
While calling on all aggrieved aspirants to embrace the on-going reconciliation process in the party, the statement admonished all successful party candidates at all levels to be magnanimous in victory and adopt an all-inclusive approach.
“This is all that is needed for electoral victory at the poll in 2027.” It stated
The statement further advised the party at the national and state level to, as a matter of urgency, establish a leadership training and development institutions across the country where pupils will be groomed and nurtured for leadership positions.
“The neo-colonial administration has stayed with us for too long and it is high time it is reviewed in line with new age realities.” it added
The group prayed for the party’s success at all levels in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
