Tension is rising in Oluyole Local Government as APC members protest what they allege is an attempt to overturn Hon. Gbolagade Abiodun’s victory in the party’s House of Representatives primary.

The election, held under the supervision of INEC and the APC’s Abuja monitoring team, saw Abiodun poll 2,315 votes against incumbent Rep. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe’s 33 votes. Protesters claim the result was altered before it was submitted to the national party leadership.

“Imagine working for months to mobilize people, only for someone in Abuja to erase it with a pen stroke,” said Mrs. Funke Olatunji, a women leader in Ward 5.

“How can someone with 33 votes be declared the winner? Are we not part of this party?”, she lamented

Stakeholders allege the interference came from the office of APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, calling on President Bola Tinubu and the National Working Committee to intervene before the situation escalates.

“We are loyal party members, but loyalty must go both ways, f they ignore us now, don’t expect us to mobilize in 2027.” Olatunji said

The group says it will hold peaceful protests and submit a formal petition if the original result is not reinstated.
