President Bola Tinubu has removed Kayode Egbetokun from his position as Inspector-General of Police (IGP). He has appointed Tunji Disu as IGP
Senior police officials and sources within the Police Service Commission (PSC) confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that Tinubu directed Egbetokun to step down from office.
Tunji Disu, was the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.
According to a source who spoke to SaharaReporters, Egbetokun met with the President at the Presidential Villa on Monday and was instructed to prepare his handover notes.
“Egbetokun was at the Villa yesterday and was told to go and prepare his handover notes. I believe he has done that already, and he will be handing over to Tunji Disu,” the source said.
Another source alleged that the President asked him to step aside amid mounting controversies and health concerns.
The source claimed that the decision was influenced by ongoing scandals and concerns about Egbetokun’s health, including alleged kidney-related medical issues.
