Residents of Orisumibare Community along Lagos Ibadan Expressway in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo and Tipper drivers in the area are currently at loggerheads over imposition of N1,000 development levy by the community for all Tipper lorry plying the area.

The community had during a forum held last Saturday, agreed to impose the levy on each lorry engaged in sand excavation daily in the community as part of measures to raise funds for the repair of the deplorable road leading to the area.

The community had alleged the tipper drivers and owners as responsible for the poor road network in the community.

It was gathered that one of the leaders of the tipper drivers simply called Taye Abule threatened to mobilise thugs to the area to dislodge members of the residents saddled with the responsibility of collecting the levy.

According to the forum coordinator, Ayo Akinyemi, residents are on standby to resist attempts by the tipper drivers to unleash violence in the community over the issue.

Akinyemi said the forum also agreed to collect a sum of N5000 annually from car owners residents in the area while a sum of N100 is to be paid okada riders .

Meanwhile, the matter had been reported to the Divisional Police Station at Toll Gate area and both parties have been invited..
