Musibau Azeez “Action” Seeks Security Measures to Curb Robbery, Kidnapping in Kajola, Oyo State

The Executive arm of the Oyo State Government has been urged to put necessary security measures in place to curb and address the incessant kidnapping and robbery in the state.

The urge was contained in a motion titled, “Need to Urgently Retrain Acts of Insecurity and Kidnapping in Kajola Local Government Area and Oyo State at Large,” and  moved by a lawmaker in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Musibau Azeez during the Assembly plenary.

The legislator who represents Kajola State Constituency in the Assembly said necessary steps should be taking by the state government to address the issues of kidnapping and robbery which has become a major issue in Kajola Local Government and the state as a whole.

According to him, the unwholesome and negative occurrence has threatened the peace, security and economy of Okeho, Kajola Local Government and the state,  adding that if care is not taking, this may send negative signal to foreign investors who are willing to  partner with the state government to positively affect our economy. 

“Residents in Okeho and the state as a whole now live in palpable fear due to nefarious activities of this underworld elements, people are afraid of being engaged in their  daily business activities because of fear of being killed or kidnapped.

“Despite the efforts of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in providing necessary logistics and support  to security agencies to ensure that crimes and criminal activities are reduced to the bearest minimum in the state, it is unfortunate and disturbing that some bad elements are bent on destabilizing the peace and tranquility being enjoyed by the people.

The legislator recalled how a medical Doctor, a staff of Baptist Medical center, Okeho,  Dr. D.O Lawal and a lady, Kafila were kidnapped in a Micra taxi by unknown gunmen along Okeho, Isemi Ile in Kajola Local Government.

“I therefore call on the Commissioner of Police in the state and other security agencies to urgently swing into action and improve on their security architecture for safety of the people.”

Hon. Azeez popularly known  as “Action” recalled cases of kidnapping in Iseyin area of Oke Ogun, where people paid huge amount of money as ransom to rescue their  people from the hands of these  bad elements despite this hard times.

He  blamed the development on  the lack synergy among security agencies and poor surveillance by the security agencies in the area.

Hon. Azeez urged the Adhoc Committee on Security to expedite action towards organizing a security summit that would bring together all security agencies in the state to deliberate on the issue and proffer necessary solutions.

In their contributions, members of the House of Assembly described the motion a a welcome development, saying the issue deserve proper attention.

The Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin in his ruling assured that the motion would be given the attention it deserved.
