The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Disability Matters, Honourable Timothy Olufemi Sunday, has called on members of the disability community and residents of Oyo State to throw their weight behind the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the governor as a visionary and inclusive leader whose achievements deserve national support.

Honourable Timothy made the appeal during an interview with Oodua News Newspaper, where he emphasized the need for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and other stakeholders to support Governor Makinde and candidates contesting under the platform of the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

According to him, the call became necessary in view of what he described as the governor’s remarkable strides and impressive record of achievements since assuming office.
He noted that Governor Makinde’s administration has distinguished itself through policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of ordinary citizens, particularly members of the disability community who, according to him, had previously suffered neglect and inadequate representation in governance.
Honourable Timothy said Governor Makinde’s administration has brought about a new era of inclusive governance in Oyo State, where Persons With Disabilities are not merely recognized but actively involved in government programmes and decision-making processes.
He maintained that the governor’s commitment to inclusion, empowerment and equal opportunities for PWDs stands as a major reason why the disability community should support his political aspirations.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has demonstrated uncommon love and concern for Persons With Disabilities through several empowerment programmes and policies designed to improve our welfare and participation in society,” Timothy stated.
He added that the current administration has redefined governance through a human-centred and people-oriented approach, ensuring that no segment of society is left behind.
According to him, under Governor Makinde’s leadership, many Persons With Disabilities in Oyo State have benefited from empowerment initiatives, educational support, skills acquisition programmes and appointments into relevant positions, thereby giving them a stronger sense of belonging in governance.
He stressed that such inclusive policies have restored dignity and confidence among members of the disability community, who now feel more visible and valued within the state.
Honourable Timothy further described Governor Makinde as an amiable, reliable and compassionate leader whose style of administration prioritizes the welfare of citizens irrespective of status, religion or physical condition.
He argued that the governor’s track record and performance in Oyo State have positioned him as a credible leader capable of replicating similar developmental strides on a broader national scale.
The governor’s aide therefore urged members of the disability community not to remain passive observers but to become active participants in shaping the political future of the state and the nation.
He encouraged them to mobilize support at the grassroots level, engage in peaceful political participation and support candidates whose programmes align with the principles of inclusion and social justice.
Timothy also commended Governor Makinde for sustaining policies that promote accessibility, empowerment and social protection, noting that these efforts have continued to improve the quality of life of many vulnerable citizens.
He said the administration’s emphasis on fairness and inclusion has earned it the trust and admiration of many residents across Oyo State.
While reiterating his appeal, Honourable Timothy expressed confidence that Governor Makinde’s leadership qualities and developmental achievements would continue to attract growing support from various sectors of society.
He therefore called on Nigerians, particularly Persons With Disabilities, to remain united and supportive of leaders committed to genuine development, inclusion and good governance.
According to him, with continued support and collective commitment, the governor’s ambition to emerge the president in 2027 will be realized.
