Achinike Jawachi installed, coronated as Ezendigbo II of Ibadanland, Oyo state

The Igbo Community Development Association ( ICDA) and Ohanaeze Ndigbo of Oyo state on Saturday installed and coronated Chief Achinike Jawachi as the new Ezendigbo II of Ibadanland and Oyo state
The ceremony was held at the Ezendigbo palace in Ibadan and witnessed High Chiefs from five Igbo speaking states of Nigeria including Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo State and Delta state taking turns to perform the rites involved.
With this development, Eze Jawachi now succeeds the late Ezendigbo of Ibadan land and Oyo state 1 late Eze Dr Alex Anozie who transited to the great beyond on September 23 , 2023.
Before this process, forms had earlier been distributed to many Igbo town union to forward the names of their candidates after which screening exercise began which culminated in the emergence of the new Ezendigbo elect, Eze Jawachi.
After the screening process was exhausted and clearance given by the Eze-in- Council to proceed to the installation and coronation proper, the event came up on Saturday ,April 25,2026 at the palace of the Ezendigbo situated along Ososami, Ibadan.
Speaking after the exercise, Eze Jawachi stated that he was aware of the Herculean task of leading Ndigbo and what it requires noting that he would need the cooperation of everyone to bring peace and unity to the midst of Ndigbo in Ibadan and Oyo state.
He promised to operate an open door policy where everyone would be carried along in the scheme of things adding that he is most interested in peace , unity and progress of Ndigbo as well the peaceful coexistence with the indigenous population who are the hosts.
Earlier,President of (ICDA) Chief Ndidi Nzeako said the installation and coronation was the end of a two year wait for the replacement of the late Ezendigbo of Ibadan land and Oyo state Eze Dr Alex Anozie who who passed on in September 23, 2023 following which mourning and burial of his remains had to done hereafter in Ibadan and his country home Igboukwu in Aguata local government, Anambra state.
Speaking at the occasion, Professor Osisioma Nwolise , a former Head of Department of Political Science at the University of Ibadan, noted that ruling Igbo needs wisdom and understanding pointing out that the new Ezendigbo should always consult before engaging in anything about Ndigbo.
He stated that he should bear in mind that their support and cooperation are required every time decisions about them are to be taken adding that when this is lacking, he should not go any further because it will boomerang.
