The Chairman of Isu/Okoma Town Union Jerry Uzor has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his apathy towards the recent hunger protest in the country.
Reacting to the President Tinubu’s approach to the issue. Uzor a prominent member of the Oyo state Ohanaeze Ndigbo stated that the former Lagos state Governor has just shown his disconnect with the people of Nigeria by not reacting positively to the issue of hunger and hardship protest in the country.
He explained that what the Tinubu failed to realize is that there is no gap in the social strate among Nigerians adding that what affects the poor also affects the rich saying that at this point in time of Nigerians, the rich also cries because everyone is only after the basic needs which is food and medicine and clothing and nothing more.
Uzor said further that the problem ensued because the President has been living his life in Lagos and never been to the hinterland in some states such as Yola, Ebonyi or even Sokoto to know that people are suffering and can hardly feed themselves.
“ Since he had been Governor of Lagos he doesn’t know hardship rather he has been moving from Lagos to Abuja, France,London and the USA and as such didn’t know anything about hunger and hardship” he observed.
He explained that it was a pity that the President disclosed that his administration has managed to save trillions of naira noting that he did this in the midst of people’s hardship when they can hardly eat in the country.
Uzor wondered how he can be happy when his people are hungry and protesting while he was busy saving money pointing out that he did not bother to know that his administration has not improved the life of the average Nigerians which should be his priority.
“Saving is good but he should be concerned about the wellbeing of his people whom he is ruling” the Isu /Okoma boss argued positing that what should be his problem is the betterment of the situation of Nigerians and not saving when they are hungry and protesting over it.
“ Good enough, protest is allowed in every democracy in the world and the people have used it to pass a message to him but he has refused to show empathy with them by addressing their problem” he submitted.
