
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Aryfad Tours and Travels Limited, Ibadan, Dr Raymond Adeyinka Adewale has called for calm and peace on the ongoing hardship protest rocking the nation in the past few days
He noted that the protest which resulted from the hardship facing the people need to be urgently addressed by government at all levels in order not to allow in degenerate to a full blown crisis.
Dr Raymond gave the admonition in a chat with newsmen in Ibadan, assuring that swift response of the leaders at the right time will douse and address the tension in the country.
According to him, the protest which is aimed at demanding economic improvement in the area of food security need to be wholistically addressed by government at all levels to achieve a peacful nation where people enjoy a good lease of life.
“There is no doubt that hunger is in the land, it is obvious, but while the hardship protest continue in the country, I urge government to address the issue so that the wanton destruction of lives and property will stop.
“Nigeria is a nation blessed with vast human and natural resources, therefore, the leaders of the country need to come together and turn the economic of country around such that everyone will benefit and have a sense of belonging in the schemes of things.”
Dr. Raymond also admonished the protesters to be peaceful while they go about with the exercise in order to avert trouble and destruction of facilities in the metropolis.
He said even though section 40 of the 1999 constitution guarantees the right of the people to assemble or to protest, the protest should be a peaceful one aimed at calling the attention of government to their plight and demands.
“It is understandable that hunger and hardship is in the land, hence, it is our collective efforts to see and ensure that the protest is done without recourse to wanton destruction of lives and property.
“I therefore call on government at all levels to rise to the issues at hand with a view of proffering necessary solution that will return peace to the land.
