The ancient town of Omuooke-Ekiti came alive on Sunday, October 4, 2026, as leaders, elders, women, youths, unit chairmen and other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered at the Ancient Town Hall, popularly known as Ajire Hall, to receive Barrister Tajudeen Olutope Ahmed (TOA), the APC candidate for Ekiti East Constituency II House of Assembly.

The gathering was part of ongoing grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 political season, with party stakeholders turning out in large numbers to demonstrate support for TOA’s aspiration.

Among the prominent APC leaders and stakeholders present were Alhaji Bello Tiwonloju, popularly known as Baba Oba; Abe Olufemi; Hon. Kehinde Oluwatuyi; Chief Oni Oluwade; Hon. Lankan Omole; Hon. Abe Adeniyi; Hon. Ogundana Amos; Badmus Adebiyi, popularly known as Sharp Sharp; Hon. Rotimi Joel; Hon. Morris Daramola; Dr. Oladipupo Idowu Filaodun, popularly known as Sekere; Hon. Saratu; and Naira Ikumapayi.

Unit chairmen and women leaders from the ward were also in attendance.

A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of TOA Unit Canvassers, described by supporters as a structured grassroots mobilisation strategy aimed at deepening engagement with voters and strengthening support across the ward.

The canvassers are expected to serve as a link between the campaign organisation and residents at the unit level, while promoting TOA’s message and political agenda within their respective communities.

Addressing the gathering, TOA reaffirmed his commitment to people-centred representation. He promised to remain accessible and responsive to the needs and aspirations of constituents if given the mandate to represent Ekiti East Constituency II.

According to him, effective representation must be rooted in constant engagement with the people and a clear understanding of their challenges and expectations.

The APC Ward 2 Chairman, Abe Olufemi, drew attention to TOA’s maternal roots in Omuooke-Ekiti, stressing the longstanding connection between the aspirant and the community.

Hon. Morris Daramola, however, noted that TOA’s relationship with Omuooke goes beyond family ties, pointing to his antecedents and longstanding interactions with the people.

One of the defining moments of the gathering came when Alhaji Bello Tiwonloju, popularly known as Baba Oba, Chairman of the APC Elders Forum in Ekiti East Local Government, publicly declared his support for TOA.

Baba Oba also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, adding weight to the growing political momentum around TOA’s aspiration within the constituency.

Similarly, Dr. Oladipupo Idowu Filaodun (Sekere) described TOA as a trusted and familiar personality with a strong connection to the people.

The gathering ended on an upbeat note, with supporters emphasising the growing grassroots structure behind TOA’s 2027 ambition.
