It was a moment of joy and enthusiasm in Wards 4 and 5 of Kota-Ekiti and Isaya-Ekiti as party leaders, residents and supporters gathered for the inauguration of canvassers in support of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Ekiti East Constituency II in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr.) Tajudeen Olutope Ahmed, TOA.
In a statement issued by the TOA Media Team and made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the event attracted party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from the two communities.
The highlight was the inauguration of two canvassers from each of the 15 polling units across the two wards by the Wards 4 and 5 TOA Supporters, bringing the total to 30 grassroots mobilisers.
Welcoming TOA and his team, former councillor Hon. Rotimi Joel described the APC candidate as a leader of substance, impeccable character and strong values.He expressed confidence in TOA’s ability to provide effective representation for the people of Ekiti East Constituency II.
Also speaking, Hon. Folorunso Ojo, popularly known as Absorver, urged party members to remain united and focused on securing victory for the APC.
Those who accompanied Barr. Ahmed included his wife, Alhaja Ahmed; Mr. Samuel Familugba; and his media aide, Comrade Olawale Ogunyebi.
The newly inaugurated canvassers pledged commitment to grassroots mobilisation and promised to work collectively towards TOA’s victory in the forthcoming election.
In his remarks, Barr. Tajudeen Ahmed appreciated the APC leadership and stakeholders in Ekiti East Constituency II, particularly in Wards 4 and 5, for their support. He commended the Wards 4 and 5 TOA Supporters for organising the programme and urged the canvassers to intensify mobilisation ahead of the official campaign flag-off.
The APC candidate acknowledged Alhaji Tiwonloju and Hon. Saka Bello, who were unavoidably absent, as well as other leaders who contributed to his success during the primary. He expressed satisfaction that the campaign had attracted experienced grassroots politicians, including former councillors, ward chairmen and women leaders.
Barr. Ahmed reaffirmed his commitment to effective, responsive and people-oriented representation. He promised to pursue initiatives that would improve welfare and economic prospects, especially for young graduates and unemployed youths, and to support programmes aimed at empowering men and women across the constituency.
The Ilasa-Ekiti-born legal luminary appealed to the people of Kota-Ekiti and Isaya-Ekiti to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to recognize the impact of Federal Government programmes.
He also highlighted developmental strides under Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, particularly in road infrastructure, education, university development and access to student financing through NELFUND. He urged constituents to reciprocate through continued support for the APC-led governments
Responding, residents and supporters appealed to Barr. Ahmed to remain steadfast in fulfilling campaign promises and to contribute meaningfully to the welfare and empowerment of APC members and residents.
They specifically urged him to use his influence to address concerns over the distribution of funds under the state’s social-welfare programme. They alleged that some beneficiaries were receiving funds through LGAs outside Ekiti East instead of through the appropriate local government, and called for fairness and transparency to ensure eligible beneficiaries in Constituency II are not disadvantaged.
Other leaders present included Hon. Ogunniyi Sehinde, Hon. Dare Jayeoba, and the Iyalaje of Isaya-Ekiti. They called for greater unity among party members towards the continued success of the APC and development of Ekiti East Constituency II.
