According to a press release issued on Friday, October 16, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the case was reported to the police on October 15 by Mary Amos, a resident of the Ogunwade area of Ido.

Mary Amos reportedly told the police that her 23-year-old daughter, Cecilia Amos, gave birth to a baby girl on September 6, 2026, at Ebepraise Health Centre, Ido.

She alleged that her daughter disappeared with the baby about seven days after delivery and could not give a satisfactory explanation about the child’s whereabouts, raising suspicions that the infant might have been sold.

Following the report, police operatives arrested Cecilia Amos for questioning.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed that Dr. Adeleke Ebenezer, 40, owner of the health facility, and Hassan Oludunni lured her into the arrangement and facilitated the sale of the baby to one Odunayo Folawewo.

The police said preliminary investigations revealed that the transaction involved ₦2 million, out of which Cecilia Amos allegedly received ₦1 million, while Dr. Adeleke Ebenezer and Hassan Oludunni reportedly received ₦500,000 each.

Following police intervention, the baby girl was successfully rescued.

The command confirmed the arrest of Dr. Adeleke Ebenezer, while efforts were continuing to apprehend Odunayo Folawewo and bring all those allegedly involved in the incident to justice.
