The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old teenager, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, barely hours after he was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Aladere Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, near the Government Reserve Forest, as security operatives intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The Command disclosed that the victim was rescued unharmed following a coordinated search-and-rescue operation involving police operatives, the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), local vigilantes, and hunters.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the teenager was abducted in the early hours of Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The statement explained that the rescue mission commenced after the victim’s father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, reported the incident at the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters.
Following the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer immediately mobilised a combined team of security personnel to the scene, leading to an intensive search of the surrounding bushes and adjoining Government Reserve Forest.
The Police said the sustained operational pressure mounted by the joint security team forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim and flee deeper into the forest.
“The victim was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family,” the statement added.
The Command noted that intelligence-led operations have since been intensified across the forest and neighbouring communities to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
It assured residents that investigations into the incident were ongoing and that every effort was being made to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
Commending the professionalism and courage displayed during the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, praised the collaborative efforts of the Police, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and strengthened inter-agency collaboration aimed at tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Oyo State.
The Police Commissioner also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely, credible, and actionable information that would assist security agencies in preventing and combating criminal activities.
He reassured the public that the Command remains resolute in protecting lives and property, stressing that criminal elements would not be allowed to establish safe havens anywhere within Oyo State.
