Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Labour Party (LP) senatorial candidate for Osun Central, Hon. Mustapha Adebayo Muhydeen, has unveiled a seven-point agenda as part of his plans for the senatorial district if elected.
Muhydeen formally declared his intention to contest the Osun Central Senatorial District seat on the platform of the Labour Party in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The senator-in-making said his decision followed consultations with political leaders, party stakeholders, community elders, youth and women groups, as well as members of his family and political associates across the 10 local government areas in the district.
He said the consultations enabled him to better appreciate what he described as the expectations of constituents for effective, responsive and accountable representation.
Muhydeen said his proposed agenda would focus on legislation, human capital development, economic empowerment, infrastructure, workers’ welfare, security and inclusion.
He listed the seven pillars as quality legislation and giving constituents a voice; youth empowerment and educational reform; economic revival and support for farmers and artisans; infrastructure and community development; workers’ welfare and good governance; security and peaceful coexistence; and inclusive governance for women and persons with disabilities.
He said, “My aspiration is not for power, but for service. I present to you a covenant of seven deliverables.”
Muhydeen also promised to use his experience and energy to build what he described as a bridge between the younger and older generations in the district.
According to him, effective representation should involve listening to constituents, articulating their interests and pursuing interventions capable of improving their welfare.
The aspirant said his campaign would be driven by the collective aspiration of the people, describing the project as “Irapada Osun Central.”
He added, “I will be a voice that will be heard, a presence that will be felt, and a representative who will never abandon his people.”
Muhydeen appealed to Labour Party leaders, members, traditional and community stakeholders and residents of Osun Central to support his aspiration as the 2027 electoral process approaches.
He also pledged to pursue policies that would promote peace, economic opportunities, education, community development and inclusive participation in governance if given the mandate.
