


It was a blend of celebration, reflection, and inspiration on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, as the Chairman of the Local Government Staff Pension Board (LGSPB), Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, marked his second impactful year in office with a historic youth empowerment initiative.
In a grand finale of the activities lined up for the celebration of second year in office specifically designed to motivate young minds toward academic excellence, Hon. Ige made history by appointing Master Abel Obaloluwa as the board’s first-ever “One-Day Chairman.”
Obaloluwa, a brilliant student of God’s Vision Academy, IGEM City, Airport, Ibadan, was honoured for his exceptional academic brilliance.
The trailblazing initiative,, a first in the history of the LGSPB has drawn widespread praise from stakeholders, who described it as a masterful strategy to foster diligence, discipline, and educational excellence among the youth.
The milestone event attracted an array of family members, friends, and political associates.
Master Obaloluwa was received by the Chairman of the board, Hon. Akeem Ige, Permanent Secretary, TPL Akinwale Olufemi, Acting HLGA, Alhaji Musibau Ladele alongside other management and staff of the board.
As One-Day Chairman, Obaloluwa received briefings on the activities, responsibilities, and various activities carried out by the board on the welfare and payment of pension and gratuities to the senior citizens under the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration.
Among the prominent dignitaries was Hon. Segun Folorunsho Akande, popularly known as “Shigo of London” and Coordinator of The GSMists Diaspora USA.
According to Akande, “Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has proven to be a beautiful mind, a politician of note, a man of noble character, and an indefatigable public servant.”
Hon. Akande lauded Ige’s visionary leadership and humility over the last two years, particularly praising his unwavering commitment to the realization of Governor Makinde’s vision for pensioners welfare and well-being particularly retired primary school teachers and local government staff.
He also lauded Governor Seyi Makinde, for appointing capable, result-driven individuals like Ige to key governance positions.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Akeem Ige said the historic appointment of Master Obaloluwa was to serve as a motivation to young ones to let them know that there are no limitations to achieving any dream in life. “Dedication and consistency can position you to attain any height you desire in life.” Ige stated.
He advised young Obaloluwa to sustain his academic excellence and strive for greater accomplishments.
The highlight of the initiative was an inspection tour of all the offices within the local government staff pension board by Master Obaloluwa who was accompanied by the Chairman and other management.
Other activities during the week long celebration were visitation to the Chairman’s Alma mata at Christ Church Primary School Odinjo, Ibadan, special jumat service and thanksgiving programme at Methodist Church, Elekuro, Ibadan.
The lawmaker that represents the Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East federal constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, the APM gubernatorial candidate in Oyo, Mr Abimbola Adekanmbi and the NULGE President, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun were also among the dignitaries that were on ground to celebrate with the chairman, management and staff of the board.
As Hon. Ige begins his third year in office, the historic “One-Day Chairman” initiative sets a new benchmark for how public agencies can directly inspire the next generation of leaders.
