The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate from Lagelu Constituency, for the 2027 Oyo State House of Assembly election, Arch Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG), has received the prestigeous Oodua News Award of Excellence in recognition of his contributions to humanity and community development.
Giwa received the prestigious honour at the office of Oodua News in the Adamasingba area of Ibadan on Monday.
The APC candidate dedicated the award to the people of Lagelu Local Government, as well as his supporters across Nigeria and beyond.
Speaking after receiving the award, Giwa expressed his appreciation to the management of Oodua News for the recognition, describing the honour as a reward for his service to humanity and efforts towards community development.
He said the recognition would further inspire him and members of his team to continue their activities through the HOG Foundation.
“I am deeply honoured to have received an Award of Excellence from Odua News today in recognition of the work we have been doing through the HOG Foundation.
“I dedicate this award to all our supporters, partners, and volunteers whose unwavering commitments has brought us to this significant milestone in Lagelu Local Government and beyond.
“Thank you for believing in us. This is just the beginning.”
The award was presented by the Chairman of Aryfad Travels Limited, Chief (Dr) Adewale Raymond Adeyinka.
In his remarks, the Editor of Oodua News Newspaper, Comrade Richard Thomas, described the award presentation as part of the organization’s long-standing tradition of honouring individuals who have distinguished themselves in humanitarian service and community development.
He disclosed that the management of Oodua News had closely monitored the philanthropic activities and community development initiatives of Arc Giwa over time before arriving at the decision to honour him.
Thomas explained that the development followed Giwa’s impactful activities and support to the less privileged adding that award initiative was designed to recognize individuals who think beyond themselves by extending philanthropic support to members of the public, particularly the poor and the less-privileged.
Comrade Thomas urged the award recipient not to relent in his humanitarian efforts, assuring him that greater recognition and rewards await individuals who dedicate themselves to serving humanity.
He also described Giwa as a man of integrity whose impact, according to him, is felt by people across society.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Deputy Editor of Oodua News Newspaper, Mr Bode Akinbode, explained that the organization remains committed to recognizing and encouraging individuals who invest their personal resources in positively impacting society.
According to him, the media organization was established precisely 25 years ago with the primary objective of promoting the unity, culture and collective interests of the Yoruba race.
The Deputy Editor of Oodua News, Mr. Bode Akinbode, commended Giwa for honouring the invitation.
He added that the newspaper, which publishes both in print and online formats, has continued to make significant contributions to the Nigerian media industry over the years through responsible journalism and advocacy.
The Deputy Editor disclosed that the award formed part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of the media organisation, just as he encouraged Arch Giwa to sustain his humanitarian activities and continue supporting vulnerable people in society.
The colourful event was held at the office facility of Aryfad Travels and Tours Limited located in the Adamasingba area of Ibadan.
The recognition adds another notable milestone to Giwa’s public profile as the APC candidate for the Lagelu State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
