The Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has commended the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, for mobilising the traditional institution towards the successful implementation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road Dualisation Project.
Sanusi, in a statement personally signed and made available to journalists on Monday, described the Olubadan’s intervention as a demonstration of the traditional institution’s important role in promoting unity, development and progress in Ibadanland.
He said Oba Ladoja’s decision to rally traditional leaders around the project underscored the relevance of the palace not only as a custodian of history and culture but also as a key partner in advancing the welfare and development of the people.
According to him, the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road is more than an infrastructure project, describing it as a strategic economic corridor that will enhance connectivity, facilitate the movement of people and goods, create opportunities for commerce and investment, and contribute to the development of Oyo State and the wider South-West.
The Okanlomo Oodua urged traditional rulers and other stakeholders in Ibadanland to continue supporting initiatives capable of promoting sustainable development, noting that major infrastructure projects require cooperation and collective ownership.
He said the completion of the road would bring significant economic benefits to Ibadan and neighbouring communities through improved transportation, increased trade and greater investment opportunities along the corridor.
“This is a project that will impact generations yet unborn. We must therefore support every genuine effort to ensure its successful delivery. The traditional institution has a critical role to play in mobilising our people and fostering the cooperation required for such transformative projects,” Sanusi said.
He added: “Kabiyesi’s call for mobilisation is timely and commendable. It reflects the kind of leadership that recognises the connection between traditional authority, good governance and sustainable development. We must all stand together to support projects that will improve the lives of our people.”
The Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort boss expressed hope that the mobilisation would further strengthen collaboration among the Federal Government, Oyo State Government and the traditional institution in Ibadanland towards the delivery of transformative infrastructure and sustainable economic development.
“Kabiyesi, your leadership is deeply appreciated. Your vision is respected. Your commitment to Ibadanland will be remembered,” he said.
He also prayed for God to grant the Olubadan long life, wisdom, strength and continued success on the throne of his forefathers.
