-Distributes 10,000 branded exercise books
The Olusegun Elijah Olasunkanmi Foundation has urged students of Iwo Grammar School, Iwo, Osun State, to remain focused on their studies and shun violence and other acts capable of jeopardising their future.
The foundation gave the charge while distributing 10,000 pieces of 40-leaf branded exercise books to students of the school as part of its new-term educational support programme.
The initiative, according to the foundation, was aimed at complementing government’s efforts in the education sector while helping to reduce the financial burden of purchasing learning materials on parents of public school students.
Speaking on behalf of the founder, the Foundation’s Secretary, Ifeolu Adegbenle, encouraged the students to take pride in their public school background and maximise the educational opportunities available to them.
She said the founder’s personal experience demonstrated that attending a public school should not be seen as a limitation to achieving success in life.
“Our founder started his education in a public school before attaining greater heights in his chosen career. This is why he places a high premium on education and remains committed to supporting students,” Adegbenle said.
She urged the students to remain committed to their studies, noting that diligence, discipline and determination were essential to achieving their dreams.
Adegbenle also praised the teachers for their efforts in imparting knowledge and moulding the character of the students, describing their role as critical to the development of future leaders.
Also speaking, a member of the foundation, Mr Timothy Oyedokun, told the students to embrace education as a legacy that nobody could take away from them.
Oyedokun said, “You must be studious and committed to your education because knowledge is a lasting legacy. You must also shun violence and anything that can truncate your future.”
The school Principal, Mrs Aderonke Adesingbin, appreciated the foundation for remembering the students and providing materials that would assist them in their academic activities.
Two beneficiaries, Master Rasheed Abeeb and Miss Rofiat Azeez, who spoke on behalf of the students, expressed gratitude to the foundation and pledged that the exercise books would be put to judicious use.
The foundation said the donation formed part of its broader commitment to supporting education and encouraging students in public schools to pursue their academic aspirations.
