
The Lawmaker representing Ido State Constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Rasak Mabaje has called for urgent renovation of some roads in Ido and Akinleye Local Government areas in order to pave the way for easy vehicular movement in the area.
Hon. Mabaje made the call on Wednesday while presenting a motion during the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
In his motion, Hon. Mabaje described the deplorable condition of Apete Junction to Yidi Arola – Ariyibi – Ayegun – Olomoasanmajana – Onikaninkanin as a very worrisome, calling for urgent intervention to curb the prevalence of accidents that has continued to increase day by day, resulting in injuries and fatalities.
“The current state of the roads poses great safety risks. These risks are exacerbated by the road’s deplorable condition, making it difficult for vehicles to navigate safely. The lack of proper drainage systems usually leads to waterlogging during rains, a situation which further compromises road safety and increase the likelihood of accidents.”
Hon. Mabaje noted that the present poor road conditions in the area has brought set back to economic activities, this, limiting development in the environment.
“The economic activities are being adversely affected. Transport delays and higher cost vehicle maintenance this hinder productivity and economic growth.
“The poor road conditions has discouraged investment and development in the area, limiting economic opportunities, and stunting growth of local business”. The legislator stated.
“The daily stress and inconvenience experienced by commuters contribute to the decline in the overall quality of life for residents. The condition of the roads deter potential business owners and visitors, limiting social and interactives activities, he added.
The House has however urged the State Government to urgently direct the concern Agency, OYSROMA, to embark on rehabilitation of the damaged roads so as to ease vehicular movement, avert reoccurrence of truck accidents and revitalise the economic activities at both local Government area and its environs.
