Oyo State Governor ‘Seyi Makinde on Wednesday officially presented instrument and staff of office to His Royal Majesty, Oba Sakiru Oyewole Adeokola- Oyelere , Ajani Eedu II as the OniFiditi of Fiditi
Governor Makinde who was represented at the ceremony, held at the open field of Fiditi Grammar School, by his Deputy, Barrister Adebayo Lawal
said the process of selecting Oba Sikiru Oyelere was diligently followed, starting with the endorsement by the entire family, the presentation by the local government, and the scrutiny by the Ministry.
The governor Implored the new monarch to collaborate closely with the government in addressing pressing issues such as community development, education, healthcare, and security
He said the collaboration will help tackle the challenges and ensure the welfare and progress of the entire community adding that traditional institution and government authorities must join forces to promote peace, security, and overall development.
Governor Makinde therefore,charged the monarch to take all necessary steps to prevent the scourges of kidnapping, banditry, and land grabbing in his domain.
” Our government has zero tolerance for these menaces, and we expect your full cooperation in eradicating them.” he said
He also urge the monarch to embrace humility ,listen to their needs, and lead by example in fostering unity and progress in his domain.
“Your reign should be characterized by compassion, integrity, and a genuine dedication to the well-being of every individual under your care.” he said
Presenting the staff and instrument of office Governor Makinde said”In exercise of the power conferred upon the Deputy Governor by sub-sections (1) and (2) of Section 20 of the Chiefs Law Cap 28 Vol.1 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000, I hereby present the instrument/staff of office, which symbolizes your authority as the Onifiditi of Fiditi, to His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Oyewole Oyelere.
“Iextend my heartfelt gratitude to all those involved in making this ceremony possible and thank everyone for their unwavering support and dedication to the progress and unity of Fiditi. Let us continue to work together towards a brighter future for generations to come “
Earlier, in his welcome address, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon Ademola Ojo, congratulated the new monarch and the state governor ‘Seyi Makinde for the feat .
He said the development will enhance unity among indigenes of the town and the traditional system in the state.
He urged the new monarch to work hard in hand with the state government for the progress of the community.
“We have to encourage them that this is an opportunity for cohesion to come in, for them to come together and be one.
“This momentous event signifies a pivotal chapter in the history of Fiditi, as we witness the investiture of authority and leadership in a new era.
” The staff of office, a symbol of tradition, strength, and unity, is bestowed upon His Royal Majesty, entrusting him with the sacred duty of steering his community towards a prosperous future.
“By presenting these revered symbols of power, we reassert our dedication to preserving the enduring principles that have shaped Fiditi for generations.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Sakiru Oyewole Adeokola- Oyelere while expressing appreciation to
governor Oluseyi Makinde commended his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the growth and prosperity of the state
He said his his reign, will focus on educational advancement of the people saying “I believe that an educated society is an empowered society.
“I have worked to ensure the welfare of our elderly, acknowledging their wisdom and contributions to our heritage. The achievements we have seen are not mine alone but the result of collaborative efforts by many dedicated Fiditians and supportive constituents of Oyo State.
“As we endeavour to attract businesses and grow The Homeland, our goal is clear: to foster economic growth and create opportunities for all. These projects are steps towards a brighter future, one where our youth can thrive and our community can prosper.
