
Oyo State House of Assembly has appealed to the executive arm of government to look into the demolition of houses as a result of the ongoing work on the Rashidi Ladoja Circular road, Ibadan, with a view to address the agitation of affected owners.
The appeal followed a matter of urgent public importance brought to the house by a lawmaker representing Lagelu state constituency, Hon. Akintunde Olajide during the plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Muhammed Fadeyi.
Presenting the motion Hon. Olajide said though notifications had earlier been issued to the affected house owners, there was still need for the assembly to interface between members of the communities and the executive which had been done through the motion.
Addressing the correspondents after the plenary, Hon. Olajide explained that the Assembly’s concern was not in anyway against the ongoing project but was concerned by the yearnings and pains of the people, urging governor Seyi Makinde as a listening governor
Contributing to the issue, some of the lawmakers including Hon. Adeola Bamidele and Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola appealed to governor Makinde to look into the 500 meters earmarked for setback at the Rashidi Ladoja Circular road to ease the pains of the people.
The Deputy Speaker, Hon Muhammed Fadeyi who appealed to residents to follow due process when purchasing land urged the governor to assent to the land acquisition bill passed to law by the 9th Assembly.
It will be recalled that the tate government in an effort to ensure the 500 meters acquired for setback was cleared, began the demolition of structures built close to the Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road on Tuesday,a development which affected about 12 communities in the Ona-Ara Local Government Area of the state.
