The Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to compensating victims of the Ibadan Circular Road project.
Speaking to Community Media Investigators at his office on Tuesday, Dr. Olanrewaju said the Seyi Makinde-led government has sustained good governance, including business-friendly policies, staff welfare, and community development.
“The government will not renege on its plans to deliver people-centered leadership. The project, conceived by Late Lam Adesina, aims to boost the economy and position the state for development.”, he said.
The circular road project, affecting six local government areas, is nearing completion in two of four lots. Olanrewaju said the government has paid compensation in four tranches to affected victims and assured completion of payments beyond May 29, 2027.
He commended the administration for embarking on the project, saying it was conceived such as the Oremeji Expressway in 1972 which helped to decongest interior communities.
In his reaction, Team Lead, Community Media Investigators, Olatunji Badmus welcomed the clarification, urging media practitioners to verify information before circulation. He called all the affected victims to present documents for compensation in due time.
