● Says Osun Will Resist any Rigging Plot

●Arresting and Killing Accord Leaders Won’t Stop Adeleke’s Re-Election -Campaign Council

Governor Ademola Adeleke has openly alerted President Bola Tinubu of ongoing systematic repression, killing and incarceration of Osun residents, warning that Osun people will resist rigging and manipulation of August 15 polls.

Speaking at a campaign rally at Osogbo, the governor informed the president that in the last three months, Accord members have lost seven members with over 20 with various gunshot wounds and more than 60 languishing in illegal police detention.

“I want to inform Mr President that my people are being killed on a daily basis. Elements within the police are aiding the APC thugs to kill our people. Mr President, Osun is bleeding and your urgent intervention is necessary.

“Those pushing to rig the Osun elections have forgotten history. I urge Mr President to protect this democracy. We seek nothing but free and fair elections.

“The shedding of blood of the innocents should stop. Osun APC members are dropping Mr President’s names to kill and maim Osun people. The name of Mr President is being dragged in the mud.

“I appeal to Mr President to call the Marine minister, Gboyega Oyetola and Senator Francis Fadahunsi to order. Killings and maiming our people is a grave threat to democracy.

“The Osun election is attracting national and international attention. Several embassies are filling reports of human rights abuses. Local and international human rights groups are having a new focus on the deliberate violence being unleashed on Osun people.

“Mr President should act as the father of the Nation. We have endorsed your re-election. We have demonstrated our love for you. Instead of killing our people, now is the time for stakeholders to show love to Osun people.

“Osun people won’t bow to threats and intimidation. They want their votes to count. They will insist their votes must count. Osun people will resist any attempt to deny them freedom to choose a leader of their choice”, the governor told a cheering crowd.

Similarly, leaders of Accord at a rally held today at Osogbo had warned Osun APC leaders that killing and arresting Accord leaders won’t stop the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke on August 15th.

At a massively attended rally with Governor Adeleke in attendance, the Director General of the Imole Campaign, Senator Lere Oyewumi said APC in cohort with the police have started arresting Accord leaders, warning that gun shooting from Ilesa to Ila won’t defeat Governor Adeleke.

“Osun people are resolved to vote and defend their votes. The voters’ support for Governor Adeleke is because of his good performance. Killing innocent people only strengthens the resolve of the people to re-elect the governor”, Senator Oyewumi affirmed.

Also commenting on the development, the Deputy Director General of the campaign, Hon Kolapo Alimi, warned that several leaders of Accord were arrested last night without their properties vandalised.

“We heard the arrest will continue tonight. Arresting us won’t change the popular acceptance of Accord. We won’t be intimidated”, Alimi declared.

The Osun Central senatorial candidate of the Accord, Hon Ganiyu Olaoluwa warned that those arresting and killing Osun people would have the people’s anger and revolt to contend with.

“We know we are being targeted. We know over 60 Accord members are illegally detained. We know our houses are being raided. But we are determined to re-elect our governor with massive support of the people”, Hon Olaoluwa posited.

The governor later met the butchers association and the Hausa communities who pledged full support for the governor’s re-election.
