Gunmen on Wednesday morning kidnapped the wife and twin children of the junior brother to former Minister of Power and APC 2027 Oyo governorship aspirant, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, in the Challenge area of Ibadan.

Confirming the incident, one of Adelabu’s media aides, Comrade Femi Awogboro, said Laide Adelabu and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge.

“The family were going out this morning from Elewura to link the express when they were attacked and whisked away by the unknown kidnappers,” Awogboro stated

When contacted, Oyo State Police Command spokesman, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, said he could not independently verify the incident yet. “I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on,” he said.

The abduction comes barely two weeks after over 40 students and teachers were kidnapped in a coordinated attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area on Friday, May 15, 2026.

That incident triggered protests, an indefinite NUT strike in Oyo, and a nationwide solidarity protest by teachers demanding urgent rescue of the victims.

As of press time, the whereabouts of Laide, Peter and Paul remained unknown, with security agencies yet to issue an official update on rescue efforts.
