The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board , Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has commended the Nigeria Union of Pensioners ( NUP) Oyo State Council for presenting a white horse to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde during the annual inter-faith prayer service to usher in the new year 2026 held at the state Secretariat, Ibadan.
Hon Akeem Ige noted that the presentation of the white horse gift indicates that pensioners in Oyo state acknowledge and appreciate the pensioners friendly Governor for prioritizing their welfare since assumption of office in May 2019 till date.
According to him ” this white horse gift to His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde is quite symbolic and a testament that all pensioners in Oyo state appreciate the present administration for prioritizing their welfare and I believe this kind gesture will encourage the governor to do more for the people of the state, most especially pensioners”
During the annual inter-faith prayer service, the state Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners , Oyo State Council , Com Dr Olusegun Abatan expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for being the best governor who has been consistent in putting smiles on the faces of senior citizens till date .
Com Abatan said that Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to welfare of pensioners is highly commendable and noted that the white horse symbolises peace, harmony and new beginning.
The governor then appreciated all pensioners in the state for the kind gesture and promised to make good use of it.
