

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, resumed plenary after a six-week recess, commending Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for what it described as unprecedented developmental achievements across the state.

At the session, which signaled a return to full legislative business, lawmakers highlighted the progress recorded by the executive arm during the recess, particularly in infrastructure, governance reforms, and local government development.
Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT), representing Lagelu State Constituency, lauded the successful completion of the House’s oversight visits to all 33 local government areas. He noted that the exercise provided useful insights into the status of ongoing projects and the performance of local councils.
Akintunde also commended the peaceful and well-organized conduct of the recently concluded ward congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
In his contribution, Hon. Olatunde Kehinde (Akinyele Constituency 2) pointed to Governor Makinde’s rollout of strategic road infrastructure projects. He stressed that a significant portion of the recently approved ₦300 billion facility would be channeled into road rehabilitation and reconstruction to boost economic growth and connectivity.
Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, praised the launch of the Oyo State Subnational Implementation Strategy for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), describing it as a visionary initiative that positions Oyo as a major economic player on the continent.
He thereafter moved a motion formally endorsing the policies and direction of the Makinde-led administration. The motion was seconded by the Chief Whip, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola.
Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi, also commended the Governor’s initiatives in health, education, and infrastructure, stressing that they have positively impacted citizens across the state.
In his closing remarks, Speaker Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to transparency and good governance, urging lawmakers to remain diligent, constructive, and responsive to the needs of their constituents, while assuring that the 10th Assembly would discharge its duties without bias or witch-hunting.
