Brig. Gen. Nafiu gave this charge while addressing the 2025 Batch A Stream 2 Corps members during his working visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Iseyin, Oyo State.

Congratulating the Corps members for meeting the requirements for mobilization, the NYSC DG described national service as a sacred call to duty that must be undertaken with seriousness, dedication, and a sense of purpose.

“No foreigner will build Nigeria for us. The task of nation-building is ours, and it begins with you,” he said, urging them to take their roles seriously and contribute actively to the growth and development of the country.

He emphasized the importance of youth in national development, highlighting the NYSC as a vital platform for promoting unity in diversity. He encouraged Corps members to forge lasting friendships across tribal and ethnic lines and to immerse themselves in the customs and traditions of their host communities.

Brig. Gen. Nafiu also advised the Corps members to take the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously, just as he assured them of NYSC’s continued partnership with financial institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Bank of Industry (BOI), Access Bank, and Wema Bank to support their entrepreneurial initiatives.

He urged them to be financially prudent and to adopt a savings culture, stressing the importance of planning early for life after service in order to avoid dependence on elusive white-collar jobs.

Furthermore, the DG admonished the Corps members to be disciplined, uphold the integrity of the NYSC, and be worthy ambassadors of the Scheme.

In his welcome address, the NYSC State Coordinator for Oyo, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, appreciated the Director General for his visit. He briefed him on developments at the orientation camp and praised the current batch of Corps members for their enthusiasm and good conduct.

The high point of the DG’s visit was the vibrant display of cultural dances by the NYSC Cultural Troupe and the presentation of tokens of appreciation to select Corps members who distinguished themselves in various camp activities.
