
A new Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in Oyo State, Kayode Ola Peters has officially assumed duty succeeding Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, whose tenure has come to an end.
During the handover ceremony held at the NYSC Oyo State Secretariat in Ibadan, Comrade Odoba delivered a heartfelt valedictory address, expressing gratitude to God for a successful tenure.
He thanked the NYSC management for the opportunity to serve as the 21st Coordinator in the state and acknowledged the support of the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde, as well as all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the scheme during his administration.
Odoba also appreciated the dedication and cooperation of the staff, stating that their commitment significantly contributed to the achievements recorded during his tenure. He urged them to continue fostering peace and harmony, give their best, and uphold the integrity of the scheme.
He encouraged the team to extend their full support to the new Coordinator, whom he described as a “perfect gentleman,” emphasizing that continued support would be crucial for building upon and surpassing the successes already recorded.
In his inaugural address, Ola Peters expressed his appreciation to the NYSC management, particularly the Director-General, Brigadier General O. O. Nafiu, for entrusting him with the leadership role.
He commended the outgoing coordinator for his impactful leadership and assured the staff of his commitment to continuity and progress. He pledged to run an open-door policy, inviting staff to freely offer suggestions and advice to enhance the Secretariat’s operations.
“Feel free to approach me. I am going to run an open-door administration,” he affirmed.
Peters called for the cooperation and support of all staff members, stressing that any success achieved would be a collective one. He also encouraged diligence, mutual respect, and dedication to duty.
During the event, staff members took turns to laud Comrade Odoba, describing him as a visionary leader and a champion of staff welfare, whose tenure left a lasting impact.
The ceremony was highlighted by the official presentation of the handover notes to the new coordinator, along with the presentation of awards, commendation letters, and gifts from friends and partners of the scheme in Oyo State.
