The All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial Candidate for Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has reaffirmed his commitment to quality infrastructure, transparent leadership, and active citizen oversight as key pillars of his “My Oyo Vision” agenda.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, Alli said infrastructure must be judged not by the number of projects commissioned, but by quality, durability, safety, and long-term economic impact.
“Roads, schools, hospitals, water facilities and other public assets are not mere projects; they are critical investments that must improve the lives of our people, stimulate economic growth, create jobs and enhance social welfare,” he stated.
The Senator stressed that every kobo of public funds must deliver measurable value to taxpayers. He noted that the people of Oyo State deserve infrastructure built to the highest standards of engineering excellence, professionalism, and accountability.
Alli urged residents to go beyond attending commissioning ceremonies and actively demand transparency in project execution.
“Good governance thrives when citizens are actively involved. Citizens must continuously ask whether projects are executed according to approved specifications, delivered within budget and capable of providing lasting benefits,” he said.
He proposed partnerships between government and community leaders, professional bodies, transport unions, market associations, youth groups, and civil society organisations to monitor public projects. According to him, such collaboration will strengthen accountability and ensure government remains responsive to the people’s needs.
The APC candidate vowed that under his administration, contractors responsible for poor workmanship or negligence would be compelled to remedy defects at their own expense. He added that public officials supervising projects would also be held responsible for enforcing quality standards and contractual compliance.
Alli pledged to strengthen public procurement processes, institutionalize independent quality assurance mechanisms, and align infrastructure investments with long-term community development goals.
“Our administration will prioritise projects that attract investment, promote trade, improve connectivity, strengthen security and expand access to quality social services,” he assured.
He concluded by calling on all residents to remain vigilant and committed to building a better Oyo State through responsible leadership, transparent governance, and active citizenship.
