
The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has expressed his appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State , His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for transforming the Board positively.
Hon Ige gave the commendation while welcoming the officials of Code of Conduct Bureau who were on official visit to the Board this morning.
According to the Chairman ” His Excellency has transformed the Board positively and it translated to our improved service delivery. Im aware that Code of Conduct Bureau is not a witch hunting agency and also I’m happy that you have touched what we do here during your enlightenment lecture viz- a- viz our day to day activities in relation to our conduct, interaction and engagement with retirees especially retired primary school teachers and local government staff.”
However , he promised to fashion out modalities to involve the officials of Code of Conduct Bureau in the next sensitization training programme for prospective retirees across the geo- political zones of the state.
While enlightening members of staff of the Board, the Director of the bureau, Mr Bolaji Amao said asset declaration is a constitutional responsibility of every public officer and that Assets and Liabilities Declaration Form is an instrument of measurement. He further stated that Code of Conduct Bureau promotes ethical standards , prevents corruption and corrupt practices.
He also noted that honesty , transparency , accountability, actions and behavior of public officers are essential in the discharge of daily activities in their respective offices. He then advised that all public office holders should avoid any action or inaction that can tarnish their reputation.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Acting Head of Local Government Administration of the Board, Alhaji Musibau Ladele said the importance of transparency and accountability cannot be over emphasized in public service and therefore thanked the officials of Code of Conduct Bureau for deeming it necessary to enlighten the management and entire staff of the Board .
Moreover, he assured that forms will be duly filled and submitted at the stipulated period of time as requested by the bureau .
