The President of the Oyo state branch of the Igbo socio cultural group, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chief Ndidi Nzeako has stated that the body is not perturbed with the recent judgement by the court of appeal which declared Chief Alloy Obi as the Onyendu Ndigbo in Ibadan and Oyo state since he is not the Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state.
Speaking during a press conference held at the late Ezendigbo of Ibadan palace on Saturday, Chief Nzeako explained that through the judgement was a travesty and miscarriage of Justice, it however situated the matter as it ought to be by declaring Chief Obi as Onyendu of Igbo General Assembly (IGA) and not of the Igbo Community Development Association (ICDA) the Ohanaeze Ndigbo of Oyo state which he noted did not participate in electing or selecting him.
Consequently, he urged Ohanaeze Ndigbo to discountenance him apart from carrying on with their normal activities by disregarding him since they did not elect or select him as the Ezendigbo as he was selected or elected by Igbo General Assembly (IGA ) and therefore should not have any authority over them.
He revealed that the ICDA and Ohanaeze firmly stands by the July , 2018 Oyo state high court which affirmed that him, Chief Ndidi Nzeako as the authentic President of Oyo Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the late Dr Alex Chukwudum Anozie as the Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state.
The Ohanaeze boss who rued the death of the President General the Igbo socio cultural body, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu who died during a brief illness on Saturday noted that the Justices of the Oyo state appeal court went beyond what was presented to them when they made the erstwhile President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chief Gary Igariwe and the erstwhile chairman of the south east traditional council chief Ilomuanya appellants instead of witnesses pointing out that the worst was that Ohanaeze counsel did not even makehis last submission and address neither he did he know of the day of judgement just as the judgement was done by zoom without the defendants being aware of the date of judgement.
In view of this, he rebuffed the peace move by his opponents stressing that this would come when those who participated in the detaining and death of the founding fathers of the body had stepped aside for fresh faces to come to the fore before any peace overture can be accepted.
