The Maye Balogun Babalaje of Ibadan land Chief Ayo Folorunso has implored governments at all level to encourage farming activities to alleviate the problem of food shortage and hunger in the country.
Chief Folorunso also said strict hygienic measure should be employed to prevent the outbreak of cholera in Oyo state as obtained in some states of the federation.
The trader popularly known as Ayo Onike opined that if government at all level make farming a policy by ensuring that local government in the nation engage in farming, while private individuals are also supported, then the issue of food shortage and hunger will be a thing of the past.
He observed that the problem of hunger was exacerbated because there is little food compared to the number of mouths to be fed while the cost of food items have also gone beyond the reach of many Nigerians.
Chief Folorunso said further that Nigerians should ensure that they wash their hands well besides making neatness their watchword and principle adding that food when cooked should be done with strict hygienic method.
“ In essence what we are saying is that hands should be washed properly whenever one visits the toilet, food properly warmed or cooked to kill the germs and clean and pure water consumed to forestall cholera outbreak in Oyo state or prevent it from spreading to the state from states such as Lagos where it has killed some people .
