Babajide Joseph Declared Wanted Over Gay Sex and Homosexuality Charges

A Nigerian man, Babajide Tope Joseph has been declared wanted  by government authority in Nigerian over allegations of gay and  homosexuality.

Joseph was declared wanted following the arrest of one Seun Obatide and three others who were allegedly involved in gay sex and homosexual relationship since 2003.

Obatide upon his arrest by authorities on June,1st 2023 mentioned Joseph in the crime, adding that he Obatide lured Joseph into the act, and three others—Femi James, Morakinyo Olajide, and Fidelis Babalola.

As a result of the development, Joseph is facing accusations of homosexuality, which carries a penalty of 14 years imprisonment in Nigeria.

It will be recalled that same sex prohibition bill law was signed into law on January 7, 2014 by the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, declaring gay sex as  illegal, with 14 years in prison for those who commit the acts.

According to him, the development started in 2003 when he, Obatide lured and initiated Joseph and three of his secondary school classmate into  homosexual relationship, saying, the relationship continued until 2004 when Joseph met his future wife.

“Although Joseph informed me about his new relationship a lady he just met then, and I did not object as long as it didn’t affect our sexual relationship.

“In 2005, Joseph’s wife gave birth to their first daughter, and the couple decided to marry. Joseph had plans to further his education and was contemplating traveling abroad. In 2013, he ended his relationship with me and moved to Qatar in 2014.

Confessing to the crime during interrogation with authorities, Seun Obatide said he was a secondary school classmate with Joseph, adding that he introduced him to homosexual relationship in 2003.

According to him,  he was arrested by authorities on June 1, 2023 along side three of his group members who included Femi James, Morakinyo Olajide, and Fidelis Babalola.

 “In 2004 Tope informed me that he met a lady Funmilayo and was  in love with her , I did not object to it as long as it didn’t affect our homosexual relationship. He later  relocated to osogbo after his girlfriend gave birth in 2005,

Our relationship dropped because of distance, Joseph started avoiding me in  2013 and he later informed me of  his plan to travel, though, I saw that as an excused, I later  head that he had  travel to Qatar in 2014 that was how I lost contact with him

“My gay and homosexual relationship with Joseph ended in 2013 at the time he first traveled to Qatar, and upon his return, he relocated his family to Osogbo to focus on his life, Obatide stated.

 “While abroad, I lost contact with Joseph and he concentrated on his family, and when he returned to Qatar. I continue to engage in homosexual acts with others until our arrest on June 2023.
