
The President, Association of Table Water Producer of Nigeria, (ATWAP), Dr. Clementina Chinwe Active has charged members of the association to uphold the ethics and standard of the association by producing safe and quality water for Nigerians.

Dr Ativie gave the charge at a programme organized by the Southwest/Kwara Zone of the association to commemorate the 2024 World Water Day, held at the Expoyo trade center, Sango Ibadan.

According to her, members must continue uphold the ethics and standard of the association by producing clean, safe and quality water for the people of the country, adding that they must ensure that the masses are able to afford the water.
“We have to put everything together to ensure we contribute to national development through production of clean, safe and quality water, and our cost should not be such that will take pure water away from the hands of the masses.”

“My advise to Nigerians is that we need their cooperation, we need them to understand that we are all in this economic issues, hence they need to cooperate with us. There is hunger in the land, and I am advising Nigerians not to go and look for alternative in water consumption, It is easy to go and take water not treated from any source, but the aftermath effects is such that may not be easy to handle.”
Dr Ativie who assured that her tenure would do everything possible to advance the course of members and their business said the significance of the celebration of the World Water Day has to do with the uniqueness of the occasion by the United Nations.
“With 7 years of being president of ATWAP and 23 years of being in leadership of the association, I will do my best to ensure that the association moves to higher levels.”
She said plans are on by her tenure to get relevant law from government to back the association, such that would move them forward.
“What I want from you is to give me your support, I have passion for the industry, therefore I can do anything move ATWAP a d the members forward.
“Plans are on to assist members to procure solar energy to run their industry in order to reduce the cost of production. This will reduce the cost of buying diesel and petrol to run their industry.
“The occasion is a special day marked by United Nations to celebrate the great impact of water in the life of the living. So “We in the water industry are not an exception, it is the most important day in our lives, today is the day we end our year and begin a new year. It is indeed a special day for us.”
Speaking, the chairman of Ibadan ATWAP, Alhaji Oladejo Ismael Adegboyega said the theme, “Water for Peace” already explains the significance of the special day, adding that World Water Day is a project of the United Nations which comes up on every 22nd of March.
“As producers of Water, we deem it fit to organize this programme to commemorate the World Water Day, we all know the importance of Water, without Water there is no life.”
Oladejo acknowledged the contributions of the association to national development which include employment of labour and production of clean and safe water for Nigerians.
He said there is no plan by the association in the state to increase the price of water, even though the price of raw materials are on the high side. “What we did was to reduce the number of pure water in a bag from 20 to 16 pieces, so as to enable the masses afford it “
Oladejo, who is the producer of 2k Best Table Water in Alakia area, Ibadan charged members of the association to be up and doing and ensure they produce safe, clean and quality water for consumption in the state.
“I want to encourage ATWAP members to follow and observe what I call Standard Operating Practice (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), to enable us achieve standard and quality production.”
Also speaking, the Oyo State Chairman of ATWAP, Elder Eniade Amos Olujide called for the cooperation of members, such that will further help the association to move forward.
He also attributed the rise in the prices of pure water and table water to the skyrocketing prices of raw materials, diesel, Petrol and others, just as he called for the intervention of government to come to the aid of members of the association.
Lagos Chairman of ATWAP, Mosaku Omolabake Ololade, urged members to be united and foster peace and cooperation among members.
She admonished people to be calm on the challenges facing water production because some believe water production is just a child’s play, saying efforts are on the way to normalize the situation of things.
Mrs Roseline Ajayi South West Director, lauded the association for the role they are playing in the life of the people, saying water is essential for life.
“You members of ATWAP are performing a role which cannot be overemphasized in the lives of the people. We do not take your roles for granted in the current and harsh business environment.”
Highlight of the programme was presentation of award to South West Chairmen of the association and other deserving members on their contributions to the association.
